I finally got tired of shopping for clothes. For real this time.
Years and years of buying garments just because they looked cute or thinking, “I’ll wear this someday.” Then, someday never came. That same cute blouse or uncomfortable but cute dress was no longer a steal but another piece of clutter taking up space in my closet.
At 43, I’ve finally cracked the code on my personal style. And what is that, you ask?
Boring but Classic.
I’ve found that boring is functional, less stressful, and intentional. It took a while but finally I realized I’m not the trendy woman, but the classic one. Cream, navy, beige, black, brown and white are now my go-to colors. They’re easy to mix and match.
These are the styles that have stood the test of time. And generally speaking, they look great on most any complexion.
Your next question may be, “Tiara, won’t you ever put any color or prints back into your wardrobe?”

I ask myself that same question, and the short answer is, “no.” The answer is short because I feel strongly that this is a phase for me. A phase in life where I need less pressure to make decisions, even the small ones like figuring out what to put on each day. For me, simplifying my wardrobe made room in my life to focus on other things.
If I feel the need to “dress up” my look, accessories are the way to go. Being the jewelry lover that I am, I never leave home without a few pieces on… rings, simple hoop earrings, and one of my many pendants. If I’m feeling extra fancy, I add a bracelet or two. This is the finishing touch that never fails.
And, for the icing on the cake, I might try a beautiful lipstick, gloss, or lip stain to add a bold detail AND a cute bag.
Then that’s it. Out the door I go!
In the future, things could change. Right now, I’m not worried about it. Simplicity is the way. With my boring but classic look, I can focus on more important things, and start each day with intentional moves sans distractions.
Who knew such a small change could make a great impact. Apparently, now I do 😊
